MEET MAGGIE!

Hi there! I’m Maggie, a passionate writer who loves writing stories that bring comfort and joy.

ABOUT ME

From age 4, I could read and discovered that the worlds inside my head could be made into written stories. The books my parents read to me, the childrens books I slowly read myself, were all written by someone. I started writing everything I could think of, my dreams that night, invented stories. My imagination was overflowing into my real life and I’d sometimes get so invested in a story I was inventing that I believed it was real.
It got me into some trouble, but at least I was happy while making imaginary friends.

MY WRITING JOURNEY

While I'd been writing since early childhood, I never really considered publishing. At 20, when deciding on higher education, a teacher encouraged me to apply for a creative writing degree, but I wasn't confident enough to believe that my writing could be a path for my future. Instead I moved to Kent in England and entered a degre programme in TV and film production, dreaming of either directing music videos or writing movie scripts. I did freelance for a few years in the TV industry, assisting on a few documentaries, writing scripts and doing research, until I had my first child in 2005. In 2007 I moved home to my native Norway, and life was swallowed up by responsibilities.
When work and motherhood allowed, I was still writing.
In 2013, two major events changed my life again. I was in a severe accident while pregnant with my second child. My child was thankfully born healthy and well, but I suffered a severe concussion, fractured two of my neck vertebrae and had several long-term injuries. Thankfully, I'm still walking, talking, living and working.
Through my recovery, I faced the truth of my own mortality and how fragile my legacy is. Then, my parents decided to clear out their storage, and I received my school books, my notebooks and a whole stack of my old story ideas. That's when I started rewriting old ideas, restarting new ideas and publishing them on Wattpad. A few of my previous ideas for scripts for Youth/young adult films became Obstruction, and as I've never really liked the brutality of the werewolf genre, I decided to try to break as many stereotypes as possible. This became A Woman's Best Friend.
Since then, I have continued writing in my spare time.
Short stories, ideas and reworkings of old first drafts fill my computer.

WHY I WRITE

I write to share my inner world, the friends I've made (quite literally) and the stories that nearly died in my accident.
I want to share my stories, tell my stories and make my imaginary friends available to others.
